Another Yarn

Name:

Just a blog between three friends, one a knitter who sometimes crochets (or so it seems), one a crocheter who struggles to learn knitting, and the other who crochets, has tried knitting and is simply a lurker on here. :) Feel free to follow along as we discuss projects, struggles, and rewards of the fiber arts.

Such slackers are we...

Ladies,

Sorry about the MIA, it's been, um, hectic to say the least. I have exactly 11 days, 1 hour and 42 minutes before I need to be at the hospital to get prepped for baby Sean. Sress, check. Baby knitting done, check. New nightgowns, check. Sean's room, nope. Crib - not set up. Changing pad - need a new one. And on and on and on. Think I can do it? Me neither. However, I have my Dad coming here today to start work on the new garage turning den and den turning Sean's room project. Wish us luck and pray for light speed.

Christmas knitting:
Jake and Jon's matching knit (with CABLES!!!) hats:

Mom's sweater - she loves it btw:

Dad will get his socks today, I'll letcha know how that goes.

My gifts include a new pair of Converse hi-tops in black to match Jake's (Thou shalt not covet thy childs Chucks - unless you tell your MIL you want a pair for Christmas, then it's ok), new purse and matching (!) shoes from Mom, a felted purse kit, Joann's giftcard which was spent on Boxing day, my annual spaghetti o's from Mom, pj set that is purple and very very warm and the wonderful peace and quiet that comes with Jake's new gameboy.

I was most excited about the Chucks. Sad, really. However I did have a pair of hot pink ones in the 7th grade - I loved those shoes! Moving on.

I had started on a sweater for Stacy for Christmas but the pattern failed to mention the front's arm holes. Hear that Dani - no arm holes! So since I had already finished the back - with arm holes and gotten up to the shoulder area of the front when I discovered that it didnt have arm hole indents - not my fault, it wasnt in the pattern, I swear - and since I'm not a real knitter I gave up. I think I shall turn them into pillow covers for those little 4x8ish rectangle pillows. I had bought her something instead - an Elvis ornament and half share (with Jason) of a big bottle of Jaeger, she was happy. I told her about the sweater incident and my lofty plans, and let her look at the knitting book that I happened to have with me - she picked a new one and I'm about 1/3 done with the back of that one. It's going quick - double strands of wool-ease and size 13 needles - they're probably equal to a K or N hook. I'll show you soon, promise.

Enough for now, I'm taking a half day today at work and I only have an hour and 45 minutes of goofing off left.

Miss you guys, and Dani, I still have your Christmas present under where our tree used to live. Hopefully I'll make the next meeting and be able to give it to you then.

11 days, 1 hour, 14 minutes to go....

Busy busy busy

Good evening ladies,

Sorry for the lack of the posting...been busy. But I wanted to update on what I'm working on and what I completed.

I finished the wedding throw. I think it turned out great and they loved it (which is the most important thing!).

Didn't it turn out lovely? And it was for two very lovely people:

Anyway, I also completed a commission blanket:

Next on the hook is a secret project for a gift, a hook case for my niece to go with her learn to crochet kit, and a skirt for me (that I'm working on the gauge swatch right now but the pattern seems to have some errors). I'll try to post again later!

Have a good night,
Tracie
