Another Yarn

Name:

Just a blog between three friends, one a knitter who sometimes crochets (or so it seems), one a crocheter who struggles to learn knitting, and the other who crochets, has tried knitting and is simply a lurker on here. :) Feel free to follow along as we discuss projects, struggles, and rewards of the fiber arts.

Yarn is everywhere

Ok, you'd think with a picture like this one on the left ...

That you'd never be taking a picture like this one on the right.

Yes I give you yarn for sale at Busch Gardens in Tampa Florida. Its called Spun Bamboo. I really should have seen what kind it was but felt like a cross between a cotton/silk blend. Super soft. Only 9.99 a skein!!

On the crochet front for myself I have started the 63 squares afghan, yes the person who doens't join is going to make 63 squares and my dear sweet crochet group will help me learn to join and I will make a faboulous throw for my living room!!!
Remind me of this post months from now ok!!
I'm on squre 16 .... yooo hooo 47 to go, yes she can do the math!!
Catch ya later and happy hooking

Lookie at this!

Good morning ladies,

I'd like to post proof that not only can I teach someone other than a 10 year old to crochet, I can convince a guy to come and learn to crochet in a public place. :)

I present to you, John. He came with his own hook and own yarn and allowed himself to be subjected to 12 crazy crochet women. That is impressive. :)

Have a lovely day,

Tracie

Mr. Gummy Smiles

Ladies,

So, how much of a cop-out is it to just post pictures of SuperCutiePie?

I thought so. Therefore, I will tell you about my Christmas gift making progress. Yes, I said Christmas. Yes, I understand that Christmas is more than 9 months away, and I think thats what makes this so magical! No, I am not touched. AM NOT! lol. Moving on.

I am 1.5 gifts into my Christmas gift making. And, that is only because 1 was already done. Kerry, if you want to be suprised, let me know and you shall know nothing. If you have the patience of, oh, ME, than I shall disclose what your offspring will receive - as they(it) are being made. So, yeah, 1 is done and I'm creating another one just like it, only smaller. I'm very excited about this prospect. I shall create my Christmas gift making list as I go plus 1. Therefore, right now on the hook (yes, I said hook) is gift 2. Next shall be a sweater for a girlfriend's daughter in purple boucle. No clue what pattern I'll use, I'll figure it out when #2 is done. Once I'm working on #3, I shall figure out #4 and so on. So, there you have it, a plan.

Happy Hooking,
Brandee.

Looky looky ... it's the ugly blanket

About time...Huh!!

Guess what I have finished, minus tucking in loose strings of course LOL

Taaaaa Daaaaaa

Can you believe it, started three and half years ago, stopped at the ugly lime green color b/c I got stuck b/c I didn't know what the heck I was doing.

Picked it up about 4 weeks ago or so, understood it so much more so this time around it wasn't so bad. I already want to make another but this time all in one color I'm thinking. That would be neat!!

Well hopefully after our trip to Jax this week I can come back and post the back of it *grin*

Smooches,
Dani

Back to civilization!

Ladies,
I am finally back at work, though that is really no excuse for not posting - sorry! Lets see, I havent finished any projects lately but I am on the round and round bit of my sock:

and have done a LITTLE work on the scarf: (picture a scarf. I havent taken a pic of it because, well, it's just a scarf and pretty boring. sorry.)

I have the yarn and ideas for a few sweaters that I will do once this sock is done. No, not once the second sock is done, because, well, we know me now dont we?

I have learned recently that my cat is weird in all settings. See, when I crochet or knit, he sits on my lap, and sometimes on my yarn which makes the whole process a bit, er, difficult. When I eat a bowl of cereal on the couch I put a pillow on my lap, and the bowl on the pillow and eat. The cat will lay on my lap with his feet on the pillow. Again, difficult. And now, we have this:
Yeah. Well then, that's it for now. More again soon. No, I mean it!

Another thing done

Good morning ladies,

I finished the top to go with the skirt last night. Well, finished as in I'm not using the hook now. I still have about 20 ends to weave in and then blocking. But the crochet part is done.

What else is on my hook? I'm working on a fisherman's sweater in dark heather wool-ease. I also have every bin in my new cubbie thing filled with a pending project. And that doesn't count the yarn stacked here in the living room.

I got a new book yesterday: "Couture Crochet Workshop" by Lily Chin. I'm loving this book. Nevermind it has like 5 skirt patterns and a DRESS pattern. :) But it explains how to design. I love it.

Okay, so I leave you with a pic that Brandee just sent me (since I can't seem to take my own pics). Just how scary is this? I'm being told that I look like I do too well at that. Not my kid. Honest. It's Bran's....I'm just crazy Aunt Tracie who will teach him all kinds of crazy things.
Okay, I'm out. See you ladies tomorrow night, with a convert with me!
